I am currently studying Art Foundation at Loughborough University, where I have chosen the Fashion and Textiles path. This year, I have been able to develop my drawing skills and explore different techniques within the fashion industry, such as fabric manipulation and fashion illustration. I have highly enjoyed being able to create textiles and develop these ideas onto garment designs. The work I have selected shows a wide variety of skills and it shows my ability to process and develop ideas further into an end product.
What interests me most about this course, is being able to construct and style garments. I have previously taken a course in pattern cutting, but I want to take this further into more complex designs. I wish to pursue a career in fashion design, and by studying Art Foundation this year, I am now certain that studying Fashion at university is the path I want to take, as it will open opportunities for me and develop my enthusiasm for the subject further.

This page shows compositions where I have used paper, nets and stitching, and drawn garment designs over the top.

I have taken an emulsion print of the previous drawings and taken it forward into further garment designs.

This page shows modelling on the stand, using old clothes and scrap materials. I have also included drawings and mark making.

This dress, made from wire, cardboard and scrap materials was the final outcome for a project on 'identity'.

I have printed with fruit in different colour schemes, and then developed this by cutting them into strips and weaving.

I have taken shapes from this collection of shoes to use in structural aspects of fashion design.

Repeated shoe design in different compositions and colours.

This page shows how I have developed simple paper folds into fashion designs.

I created small compositions for textile designs and copied them onto a larger scale, which I have used as the material for a simple shift dress design.

I have created a textile design by using prints of fruit, and drawn a banquet set up over the top.

These are small compositions which I have created by using different materials and fastening methods.

I have taken a selection of 'brown' photographs and rearranged them into a new composition. I then used this as a possible textile design, which I have used for the material of these garment designs.
